Frost can be a garden killer, but it doesn't have to be a surprise. Many plants are hardier than you think, while others need protection at the first sign of chill.

Know Your Numbers

It's not just about 'frost' (0°C / 32°F). Some plants take damage at 4°C, while others survive down to -5°C.

Precision Protection

The Growico API provides the frost_hardy_temp for each variety. This specific data point tells you exactly how cold a plant can get before it suffers damage.

  • Hardy: Kale, Spinach (often survive < -5°C)
  • Tender: Tomatoes, Peppers (damaged < 2°C)

Use this data to set up smart alerts or simply to know which rows to cover when the forecast dips. Gardening with data means fewer lost crops and longer harvest seasons.
